8 Best New Cruise Ships Launching in 2024

The 82-passenger AmaLilia will join AmaDahlia to offer itineraries that begin with a pre-cruise stay in Cairo before joining the ship in Luxor for a roundtrip sail. Also expect the same yacht atmosphere, along with fine dining options and an expanded marina area. Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection is another line that welcomes families, although the Ritz Kids program does come with a fee.

Silver Nova's asymmetrical design will also be evident at two new food and beverage venues at the top of the vessel. Classic Oceania eateries that will be on board the ship include the line's signature Polo Grill steakhouse, Italian-inspired Toscana and upscale Asian outlet Red Ginger. Oceania long has been known as a foodie's line, and Vista won't disappoint, with 12 different culinary options for passengers — four of which will be new concepts for the brand. The solo cabins, notably, also are concierge-level cabins, which means they come with access to a private keycard-accessed concierge lounge and complimentary use of the ship's Spa Terrace. In fact, every cabin on Vista will be a balcony cabin, as every cabin has either a full balcony or a more limited French balcony. The ship will have no windowless inside cabins or balcony-less ocean-view cabins.

Norwegian Prima is First-in-Class with New Slides, a Race Track and Vegas-Style Nightlife

At 67,000 tons, Vista will be a tad bigger than Oceania's last two new ships, Marina and Riviera. However, it'll carry fewer passengers (1,200 versus 1,250), meaning its "space ratio" of space per passenger will be higher. Like the Oasis-class ships, it's able to hold nearly 7,000 passengers with all berths filled — 6,762, to be exact. Note that in some cases, the new ships coming in 2023 will arrive months behind schedule due to ongoing pandemic-related construction delays at the shipyards that are building them. Thanks to these delays, the first sailings of a few ships that were expected to debut in 2023 — including Royal Caribbean's much-awaited Icon of the Seas — have been pushed to 2024. This year will be a big one for new cruise ships, though not as big as last year.

To whet your appetite for cruising in the year ahead, take a look at our list of nine new cruise ships arriving in 2024. The new ships from Cunard and Princess Cruises will both feature notable updated designs for the brands, with an expanded lineup of restaurants, bars and entertainment areas. Icon of the Seas is just one of two major new Royal Caribbean cruise ships arriving in 2024. Also on the way is Utopia of the Seas, the sixth and final vessel in the line's hugely successful Oasis Class of ships. The entertainment offerings on board the Sun Princess are just as innovative and thoughtfully designed as the ship itself. In fact, we're transforming the future of entertainment not just at sea, but anywhere.

It'll also mark the continuation of a more upscale turn for the line that began with Norwegian Prima. Norwegian Viva will offer a wide range of suite categories (13), as well as the largest three-bedroom suites of any new cruise vessel. Inside Norwegian Viva, ocean view and balcony cabins also will be larger than has been typical for Norwegian ships in the past. The extra space has allowed Silversea to expand its lineup of cabin categories on the ship, with more large suites.

Oceania Cruises’ first new build in 11 years, the 1,200-passenger Vista, debuts in June in the Mediterranean. The ship offers an impressive 12 dining options—important on an upscale line that prides itself on its popularity with foodies. Vista will have the line’s signature cooking school and largest-in-fleet staterooms. At the top end, palatial Owner’s Suites are being styled by Ralph Lauren Home, which is also decorating the top-of-ship library. Like Silver Nova, Silver Ray will be bigger than Silversea's previous ships and feature an unusual, asymmetrical design for its public decks that reorients its key features toward the sides of the ship instead of the center.

It features Edge Class’s unique Infinite Balcony with its indoor/outdoor sliding window. After having its delivery postponed several times since 2021 due to problems at Brodosplit, the Janssonius is expected to enter service for Oceanwide Expeditions sometime in 2024. Once delivered, the expedition vessel is set to offer a series of exploration cruises in Antarctica and the Arctic. The new Disney Tresure is set to enter service for Disney Cruise Line on December 21, 2024. A sister to the 2022-built Disney Wish, the 140,000-ton vessel is offering a series of week-long cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas during its inaugural season.

The ship debuts in June 2023 and will sail its first season in the Norwegian fjords. Also, like its sisters, Carnival Jubilee was designed to hold up to 6,630 passengers. That's just a tad below the 7,600 passengers that will be able to fit aboard Royal Caribbean's soon-to-debut Icon of the Seas — the new world's largest cruise ship (more on that vessel below).

A sister ship to Disney Wish, the 4,000-passenger Disney Treasure puts Aladdin in the spotlight, along with a theme of adventure. Early word on the ship notes nine dining "experiences" and cabins that start at a generous 377 square feet. Outdoor space will be highlighted with 64 private pool cabanas across three outdoor pools; a fourth pool will have a retractable glass roof to allow swimming in any weather.

MSC World Europa will carry 5,079 passengers (at full occupancy) and will boast 22 decks, immediately becoming the longest, tallest and largest ship in the entire fleet. The ship launches in December 2022 and is earmarked to sail in the Arabian Gulf. The luxury hotel brand Ritz-Carlton made waves in 2022 when it launched its first cruise ship, Evrima. The next ship in its fleet, Ilma, aims to do more of the same -- on a bigger scale. The 456-passenger ship is significantly larger than Evrima, which only held 298 guests.

The show features popular Latin soundtrack favorites like "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" by Miami Sound Machine and "Hips Don’t Lie" by Shakira. The Cabana stateroom boasts a private cabana and balcony, allowing you to relish the outdoors while preserving your privacy. Richard Branson’s adults-only (18+) cruise line will launch its fourth “Lady Ship” sometime in 2024 (the ship was delayed from its original launch date of late 2023) or in early 2025. Seven Seas Grandeur will also offer an array of elegant and high-end restaurants, all of which are included in the fare.

MSC Group is the parent company of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, as well as the Mediterranean Shipping Company. The latter, also known simply as MSC, is the largest container shipping company in the world. As with earlier Royal Caribbean ships, it'll even have an indoor ice-skating rink. In all cases, the new ships that are on the way already are available for booking — and, indeed, booking up fast.

In addition to American Cruise Lines’ (ACL) new American Serenade riverboat, joining the fleet in 2023, the domestic brand will also welcome a pair of new coastal cruise ships. American Eagle and American Glory will be the first of 12 planned vessels in the line’s “Coastal Cat” series, also known as “Project Blue,” when they begin sailing along the East Coast in August and October 2023, respectively. The latest “world’s most luxurious cruise ship” from Regent Seven Seas Cruises (each new vessel outdoes the last in terms of extreme luxury) debuts in Europe in November, before a season in North and Central America. Expect on the 750-passenger, all-suite Seven Seas Grandeur the brand’s signature extravagances such as marble floors, crystal chandeliers, gold leaf here, and expensive art there. The pandemic, however, slowed down ship launches to a mere trickle as cruise lines weathered the public health crisis storm.
